Lee Hui Ying on Electronic Conveyancing and Other Matters Bill
A new Digital Conveyancing Portal will make property transactions more efficient and further strengthen Singapore’s position as a future-ready financial hub, said MP Lee Hui Ying. However, she sought some clarifications in parliament on Wednesday (Oct 15). These included whether user interfaces are designed with seniors in mind and if electronic portals increase the risk of scams or failure to detect improper conduct. Ms Lee also asked about a condition for remote witnessing of Lasting Powers of Attorney, which is that the donor must be under 75 years of age. She wanted to know how this age was determined, whether it presumes a higher risk of reduced mental capacity and if it will be regularly reviewed.
