Leong Mun Wai on foreign talent policy

Raise the quality of work pass holders by increasing their qualifying salaries in stages over the next three years. Impose a cap on workers from a single nationality, based on the percentage of the company's staff strength. Reduce the number of permanent residents and new citizenships awarded to work pass holders each year, in sync with the overall tightening of foreign manpower. Create standing select committees for every ministry in Parliament, with representatives from different parties to enable more informative exchange on policies. NCMP Leong Mun Wai proposed these measures as he renewed his call for urgent and concrete action to "restore some balance" in the job market in Parliament on Tuesday (Sep 14). He said despite the underlying suggestion that the Progress Singapore Party is "trying to fan anti-foreigner sentiment", a healthy and proper dialogue must start as Singaporeans "deserve better".
