Leong Mun Wai makes clarification on vaccination-differentiated measures in schools
In Parliament on Tuesday (Jan 11), NCMP Leong Mun Wai rose to clarify a point he had made the day before about vaccination-differentiated measures being practised in some schools. He said this was based on allegations he had seen in a Telegram chat group. When prompted by Speaker of the House Tan Chuan-Jin, he could not clarify which schools were allegedly involved and said he had not verified the claims. Leader of the House Indranee Rajah reminded members of the importance of being able to substantiate allegations and to exercise their privilege to speak responsibly. She said Mr Leong was “grandstanding” and making claims that had “besmirched” teachers. Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh then asked if Mr Leong had requested to put forward a “personal explanation” - a term used by Speaker Tan - in which case he would have submitted his statement in full. Mr Tan clarified that that was not the case.
