Leong Mun Wai on petition on Foreign Interference (Countermeasures) Bill

Delay the proposed law on anti-foreign interference. Consult more extensively on how the proposed changes will affect the public. Set up a select committee to further study how appropriate and necessary such a law would be. Progress Singapore Party NCMP Leong Mun Wai made this call in Parliament on Monday (Oct 4), as he presented a petition on the Foreign Interference (Countermeasures) Bill. He highlighted concerns that the Bill contains extremely broad definitions that serve as a "catch-all" for a wide range of legitimate activities. Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh said the Workers' Party supports allowing the Public Petitions Committee to review the petition.
