Louis Chua on Health Information Bill
The National Electronic Health Record (NEHR) represents a significant milestone in Singapore’s Smart Nation journey, but public trust is imperative to turn this national database into a national asset, said MP Louis Chua. He urged the government to give patients more flexibility and control over the sharing of their medical information, including offering a total opt-out. He added that extensive public education will be needed, particularly on access restrictions and use of individually identifiable data. Mr Chua spoke in parliament on Monday (Jan 12).
