Louis Ng on Casino Control (Amendment) Bill
The Casino Control (Amendment) Bill will improve the effectiveness of Singapore’s casino regulatory regime, tighten the regulation of casinos and licensees and strengthen protection for vulnerable groups, said MP Louis Ng. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Sep 10), he noted that Singapore’s regulatory regime has worked well and these amendments are part of the Government’s regular reviews of its laws. He said he is glad that Singapore is proactively reviewing its laws to ensure that its legislative framework is able to meet the anticipated developments in the gambling landscape. Mr Ng also sought clarifications on the Bill. These include the removal of the requirement for a hearing before exclusion or visit limit orders are made and the powers of the National Council on Problem Gambling.
