Louis Ng on Environmental Public Health (Amendment) Bill

07:27 Min

It makes sense to extend the Progressive Wage Model to migrant workers employed in cleaning and waste disposal - as a matter of fairness, and in the spirit of increasing productivity along with improving service standards and quality. MP Louis Ng made this point in Parliament on Monday (Feb 6). He also called for a presumption being introduced for high-rise littering - namely, that litter proven to be thrown from a flat was thrown by every owner or tenant - be extended to smoking in flats as well, if it affects other residents. Mr Ng asked if this method of deterrence, along with surveillance, could be applied towards banning smoking at windows or balconies.
