Louis Ng on Infectious Diseases (Amendment) Bill

MP Louis Ng said the Infectious Diseases (Amendment) Bill will enhance the Government’s powers to deal with future pandemics. It will also align HIV disclosure requirements with scientific developments. He asked about the responsibility of parents or guardians of individuals with intellectual disability or who lack the mental capacity to comply with requirements under the Infectious Diseases Act. He asked how the parent or guardian of an individual lacking mental capacity can balance responsibilities under the Infectious Diseases Act and the principles that they must abide by under the Mental Capacity Act. Mr Ng was speaking in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 7).
