Louis Ng on National Symbols Bill

03:05 Min

National symbols are an important part of Singapore's national identity and a common rallying point for Singaporeans, said MP Louis Ng. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Sep 13), he welcomed the Bill to recognise and protect these symbols. He also sought clarifications on the Bill. The first relates to the pre-approval process for national symbols. He wanted to know how the Government will ensure that the preferred route for approval is accessible, low-cost and simple to navigate. Mr Ng also asked if the Government will consider enhanced punishments for those who misuse the national symbols to mislead others.
