Louis Ng on Private Security Industry (Amendment) Bill
COVID-19 has made life harder for security officers, with many having to take on the "thankless" task of enforcing safe management measures, said MP Louis Ng. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Oct 5), he said the Private Security Industry (Amendment) Bill will increase protection for them. He also sought clarifications on the Bill. He wanted to know what counts as a security officer's duty and if the law will apply to functions reasonably connected to a security officer's work. He stressed the need to be clear about this as security officers may be required to perform diverse tasks which are not spelt out.
