Low Yen Ling on Committee Against Profiteering
The Committee Against Profiteering has been working with various partners to reach out to businesses to guard against GST profiteering. For instance, the Consumers Association of Singapore, Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore and trade associations have been guiding businesses on how to communicate any price adjustments linked to the GST increase at the start of the year. The committee is prepared to publicly highlight egregious businesses which unjustifiably raise the prices of essential products and services using the GST hike as an excuse. Minister of State for Trade and Industry Low Yen Ling said this in Parliament on Monday (Jan 9) in answer to an MP’s question.
