Low Yen Ling on diversifying food supply sources
Most of Singapore's top vegetable and seafood imports are "well-diversified", with more than 10 source countries. This has helped to strengthen the resilience of seafood and vegetable supplies. However, prices of popular food items tend to rise ahead of festive periods because of the surge in demand, said Minister of State for Trade and Industry Low Yen Ling. Responding to Parliamentary questions on Tuesday (Feb 15), she stressed that Singapore has a multi-pronged strategy in place to tackle potential supply chain disruptions. The Government will "spare no effort" to keep food supplies and food prices stable, she said.
