Low Yen Ling on Energy Efficiency Grant
The Energy Efficiency Grant supports local SMEs in the food services, food manufacturing and retail sectors to invest in energy-efficient equipment in several categories, including LED lighting, air-conditioners, cooking hobs and clothes dryers. The categories were chosen as they tend to be energy-intensive and used for long hours, explained Minister of State for Trade and Industry Low Yen Ling in Parliament on Tuesday (Aug 2). She noted that the grant is the latest in a suite of measures to encourage businesses to become more energy-efficient. Ms Low was answering a Parliamentary question on whether the Government intends to spur the adoption of energy-efficient measures upstream and at a systems level.
