Low Yen Ling on protecting consumers from errant home-based businesses

07:20 Min

Consumers of home-based businesses and micro businesses are protected from unfair practices under the law. These include misrepresentation of goods and services. Those who have been shortchanged can turn to the Consumers Association of Singapore, which can help to work out a settlement with errant suppliers. If this fails, they can file a claim with the Small Claims Tribunal or seek other forms of legal redress, such as through the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore for investigation. Minister of State for Trade and Industry Low Yen Ling outlined these measures in reply to an MP's question in Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 30).
