08:41 Min

The unit business cost - that is, the business cost of producing a unit of output - has risen for the manufacturing and services sectors in Singapore, though businesses have remained profitable. This is largely due to a surge in global energy prices as well as a tight domestic labour market. Minister of State for Trade and Industry Low Yen Ling gave the details in Parliament on Tuesday (Sep 13) in response to an MP’s questions. She said the Government is monitoring business costs closely and will provide targeted support where needed.
