Low Yen Ling on use of CDC vouchers
Ninety-five per cent of 1.27 million Singaporean households have claimed their 2024 CDC vouchers as of Feb 6. More than S$255 million of the claimed vouchers has been spent. This represents 42 per cent of the claimed vouchers - S$99 million was spent at participating merchants and hawkers, while the remaining S$156 million was spent at the participating supermarkets, probably because of their promotional campaigns. As for the vouchers of 2023, about 97.7 per cent of 1.27 million Singaporean households claimed them. This is the highest amount and percentage of vouchers claimed compared with all previous rounds. Of the vouchers claimed, more than S$360 million or 96.5 per cent was spent at the participating hawkers, heartland merchants and supermarkets. Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth Low Yen Ling gave this update in reply to an MP’s questions in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 6).
