Mandelson appointment row: British PM Starmer facing growing calls to step down

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's leadership is on the line over his appointment of Peter Mandelson as ambassador to the US. Mandelson was sacked in September, after US authorities released emails showing the depth of his relationship with convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Mr Starmer has said he was "wrong" to make the appointment, but blamed officials for not telling him that a security vetting body had advised against the appointment.
