The CareShield Life and Long-Term Care (Amendment) Bill is timely and a significant step in ensuring that the scheme remains affordable, provides sufficient payouts and is sustainable, said MP Mariam Jaafar. Speaking in parliament on Wednesday (Oct 15), she pointed out that the work is not done. To serve its ageing society well, Singapore must build greater system coherence, keep the system affordable and payouts adequate, ensure fairness across generations, plug the coverage gap for seniors and make sure that the care that is promised actually gets delivered.
