Masagos Zulkifli on likely level of ComCare assistance in 2021
Data for the first six months of FY2021 has shown a steady fall in the number of beneficiaries of ComCare assistance since last year. This is in line with the improving economic and job market situation. Social and Family Development Minister Masagos Zulkifli said the number of ComCare beneficiaries and the quantum disbursed this year are not expected to stay at FY2020 levels, though they may still be higher than pre-COVID-19 levels in FY2019. Last year, ComCare assistance rose 56 per cent from FY2019, benefiting 22 per cent more individuals. Mr Masagos was answering an MP’s question in Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 3).
