Masagos Zulkifli on salary review for early childhood educators
The review of salaries for early childhood educators is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year, with the changes likely to be implemented from next year, said Social and Family Development Minister Masagos Zulkifli. He said the review will ensure that their salaries are commensurate with their contributions and professional skills, and competitive enough to attract and retain talent in the sector. Speaking in reply to an MP's questions in Parliament on Tuesday (Sep 13), Mr Masagos pointed out that salaries for early childhood educators in Government-supported preschools have increased by around 20 per cent on average over the past three years. Apart from the review, the sector has the skills framework and Continuing Professional Development roadmap. He said career pathways have also been expanded so that educators can aspire towards larger or new roles. Mr Masagos said the Early Childhood Development Agency is also paying attention to the well-being of educators. One way is through digitalisation initiatives to help educators better manage their workload.
