Melvin Yong on CareShield Life and Long-Term Care (Amendment) Bill
The amendments proposed under the CareShield Life and Long-Term Care (Amendment) Bill are timely and will help to ensure that payouts under the scheme continue to defray a sizeable proportion of healthcare costs for those who suffer severe disabilities, said MP Melvin Yong. Speaking in parliament on Wednesday (Oct 15), he urged the Ministry of Health to expand the minimum age of enrolment for the scheme to help young adults with disabilities, as well as to improve insurance literacy among consumers.
