Melvin Yong on Workplace Fairness Bill

In Parliament on Tuesday (Jan 7), MP Melvin Yong voiced his support for the Workplace Fairness Bill and highlighted the importance of protecting workers with mental health conditions. He pointed out that many workers remain afraid to speak up or seek help for their mental health issues because of perceived negative attitudes and reactions from others. Noting that workers with mental health conditions are only protected from discrimination if they see and are treated by a psychiatrist, he urged the Government to review and expand this definition in the Bill. He also highlighted the importance of ensuring that those working in small businesses do not fall through the cracks during the transition period.
