Motion: Alex Yeo on artificial intelligence transition with no jobless growth
Harnessing AI to grow is a double-edged sword - it can be a driver for the next phase of Singapore's economic development but if its development and deployment are left unfettered, it can lead to societal ills, said MP Alex Yeo. Speaking in parliament on Wednesday (May 6), he stressed the need to ensure that Singapore’s AI-enabled growth is anchored in fairness, resilience and opportunities for all. Mr Yeo said the motion resonates because it is about putting people at the centre of Singapore's approach to AI-enabled growth. He also stressed the need to make AI fluency and literacy a national endeavour and suggested rolling out a national AI literacy and fluency programme for all Singaporeans.
