Motion: Gerald Giam on reinforcing Singapore’s position as a global transport hub
Singapore has focused heavily on building world-class infrastructure to stay competitive as a global transport and logistics hub. However, in a changing global economy, it must rebalance long-term capital spending to create proprietary digital systems to hedge its exposure to physical trade volatility, said MP Gerald Giam. As infrastructure and machines grow more capable, Singaporeans must also be made more secure by implementing targeted worker safeguards and ensuring productivity gains are shared, he said. Mr Giam spoke in parliament on Tuesday (Jul 7).
