Singapore must see caregiving as a growth segment that builds not just the economy of today, but the society of tomorrow, said Workers’ Party MP He Ting Ru. In parliament on Wednesday (Aug 5), she called for stronger wage support and support for local entrepreneurship in the sector. She also spoke on the need to provide the right ecosystem for creatives and entrepreneurs to thrive. Ms He added that Singapore has to ensure its economic policies do not result in further destruction of the planet, with a transparent accounting of environmental outcomes. “Progress towards tomorrow does not mean that we compromise on our collective well-being for the sake of GDP growth,” she said.
