Motion: Poh Li San on artificial intelligence transition with no jobless growth
The next frontier of AI is physical generative AI and Singapore's AI transition should focus on customising solutions in this field for its industries. MP Poh Li San said this in parliament on Wednesday (May 6), noting that man-machine hybrid teams will be the new norm. She said AI-powered robots will help businesses overcome manpower constraints and lower costs. Singaporeans can be upskilled as supervisors of robots. Seniors and women will be able to join the workforce and people can retire later if they wish, since their roles will become less physically demanding. Meanwhile, new high-value job roles such as design, building and maintenance of AI robots will be created for young engineers and technicians.
