The Singapore Prison Service (SPS) plans to introduce a new Employment Preparation Scheme (EmPS) for inmates, allowing them to participate in educational or training activities in the community. Replacing the Work Release Scheme (WRS), it takes a "step-down" approach to gradually ease inmates back into society. Minister of State for Home Affairs Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim outlined the details in Parliament on Tuesday (Jan 11). The Bill includes other changes to facilitate SPS' operations and administration.
