Murali Pillai on IP rights and awareness support for creators
The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore runs weekly legal clinics where creators can receive complimentary legal advice from practising lawyers about enforcement and infringement of intellectual property rights. This includes understanding the available options if they find that their rights have been potentially infringed. About one in four of these sessions touched on copyright infringement. Minister of State for Law Murali Pillai, who gave this update in reply to a Parliamentary question on Tuesday (Oct 15), also highlighted the alternative dispute resolution options available. This includes mediation, which is often more cost-effective and expeditious compared to litigation.
