14:39 Min

Mental health challenges are pressing, affecting all levels of society and must be tackled with “haste”, said MP Nadia Ahmad Samdin. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 6), she highlighted the need to provide access and affordable mental health treatment and support, and care for the mental health of seniors and support vulnerable groups. She said alongside strategies to improve service coordination and care systems, Singapore must consider local training and education pathways and spaces for professionals, such as clinical psychiatrists, to help the system cope with the increased load. She pointed out that the Government’s commitment to mental well-being is instrumental but this must be supported by collaborative efforts with non-governmental organisations, philanthropy, the private sector and Singaporeans.
