Nadia Ahmad Samdin on Constitution and Penal Code Amendment Bills relating to Section 377A

12:58 Min

Expressing support for the repeal of Section 377A in Parliament on Tuesday (Nov 29), MP Nadia Ahmad Samdin raised the question of where Singapore goes from here, not just in dealing with the repeal but with other potentially divisive issues. She said people can stay entrenched in their positions, unwilling to engage in constructive dialogue with those who have opposing views; or, they can engage in respectful conversation while remaining steadfast to their values. Ms Nadia urged Singaporeans to “continue to be brave to have the tough conversations”, endeavour to not invalidate the lived experiences of others and not fall prey to living in echo chambers.
