Nadia Ahmad Samdin on Retirement and Re-employment (Amendment) Bill and Central Provident Fund (Amendment) Bill
Changes proposed in the Retirement and Re-employment (Amendment) Bill provide seniors clarity and security to keep their options open if they wish to work, while protecting them against wrongful dismissal, said MP Nadia Ahmad Samdin. However, she raised several queries in Parliament on Monday (Nov 1). Ms Nadia asked how the Government can ensure that seniors have gainful, appropriate employment with commensurate salaries, and prevent employers from dismissing older workers under the guise of benchmarks other than age. She also asked if there are plans to expand existing senior employment incentive schemes.
