Ong Hua Han on Insurance (Amendment) Bill
Were it not for the proposed capital extraction plan in the Income-Allianz deal, would the Government have allowed the transaction to go ahead, accepting the assurances made by Income and NTUC Enterprise on maintaining its social mission? Would the lack of clear, binding provisions or structural protections on that element alone, have merited the blocking of the deal? This question was put forward by NMP Ong Hua Han in Parliament on Wednesday (Oct 16). The intention, he said, was so that the public can better understand the Government’s deliberations, especially concerning “national assets to which Singaporeans have deep emotional ties”.
