Ong Ye Kung on bivalent COVID-19 vaccines
Singapore expects to have the bivalent Pfizer-BioNTech/Comirnaty COVID-19 vaccine by the end of this year, said Health Minister Ong Ye Kung. Speaking in reply to an MP's questions in Parliament on Thursday (Oct 20), he said Singapore has started administering the bivalent Moderna/Spikevax COVID-19 vaccine. He stressed that these vaccines provide better protection against the newer COVID-19 variants. He said those aged 50 and above will get priority for the jabs as they are at higher risk of severe disease from infection. The Government plans to make these vaccines available to those aged 18 to 49 later in the year as Singapore secures more supplies, hopefully in a matter of weeks, he said. *Audio issues inherent from source
