Health Minister Ong Ye Kung has called for private insurance companies to "exercise more discipline", as over-generous coverage is leading to excessive prescriptions and tests, as well as unnecessary treatments. He added that insurers offering such "unsustainable" terms drive up claims and insurance premiums, and subsequently healthcare costs.
