Onus on government to decide what social spending is necessary: PM Lee

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong says the government must be a gatekeeper for social safety nets, despite pressure to be more generous. He said the PAP government has had to play this role because there is no political party which campaigns on less taxes, for less welfare.
