Poh Li San on Coastal Protection and Other Amendments Bill

The effectiveness of the Coastal Protection Code of Practice lies in the water tightness of adjacent coastal protection measures, said MP Poh Li San. Up to 100 companies are estimated to be affected by these measures, she said in parliament on Friday (Mar 6). If the design and construction of individual coastal protection measures are not well-coordinated and constructed, there could potentially be up to 100 such points of weakness, said Ms Poh. She wanted to know how the government would ensure that the collective assembly of multiple sections of differently designed measures can withstand the forces of nature. It should consider a centralised approach to ensure the most robust outcomes, she said.
