"Double down" to effectively promote and track skills transfers from foreigners to Singaporeans, including initiatives which are funded with taxpayers' money. Track and solve the problem of underemployment. Set up a permanent Parliamentary standing select committee to oversee the issue of jobs and foreign employment, where policymakers can be questioned and held accountable. Communicate more and much better on jobs and foreign employment. Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh outlined these proposals for the Government to work on to repair the "local-foreign divide". Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Sep 14), he stressed that being a country open to foreign investment and looking after the Singaporean worker and PMETs must be "complementary objectives".
