Rachel Ong on Platform Workers Bill
The Platform Workers Bill reflects Singapore's deep commitment to fairness and the safety and well-being of its platform workers, said MP Rachel Ong. It also stands out as a testament to the country’s unique tripartite approach, where Government, employers and unions work in concert to create balanced and effective policies, she said in Parliament on Tuesday (Sep 10). Ms Ong said this will not only protect the livelihoods of workers but also secure their future, offering them the dignity and peace of mind they deserve. She stressed the need to ensure the safety of delivery riders and address the risks they face on the road. She urged the Government and platform operators to work together to enhance safety guidelines. She also stressed the need for clarity in the provisions of the Bill, as well as to review them regularly.
