Rahayu Mahzam on demographics of suicide cases

Younger people aged 19 and below account for disproportionately fewer suicides, while the converse is true for people aged 60 and above. Malays also account for disproportionately fewer suicides, while the converse is true for Indians. Parliamentary Secretary for Health Rahayu Mahzam gave this update on Tuesday (Nov 2) in response to an MP's questions. She also highlighted the available Government efforts and support for suicide prevention for various demographics. She added that support for cases of attempted suicide is automatically provided but not mandated.
