Rahayu Mahzam on impact of disruption of State Courts' Integrated Case Management System

03:44 Min

The State Courts' Integrated Case Management System (ICMS) sees an average of around 184,000 criminal cases filed each year from 2018 to 2022. It undergoes scheduled weekly and monthly maintenance after court operating hours. After the disruption to the ICMS happened on Feb 7, the State Courts activated its business continuity plans to ensure that court hearings could proceed. The vast majority of criminal cases were not affected. The average time to manage these cases manually on Feb 7 and Feb 8 as compared with the average time of the cases under the ICMS was not specifically tracked. Only 16 of the 2,037 criminal cases scheduled on both dates, or less than one per cent of the scheduled cases, had to be adjourned. Minimal disruption was caused to these adjourned cases. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Law Rahayu Mahzam gave this update in reply to an MP's questions in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 28).
