Rahayu Mahzam on impact of Nutri-Grade labelling

There have been encouraging results from the Nutri-Grade labelling measures. The median sugar level of pre-packaged beverages decreased from 7.1 per cent in 2017 to 4.6 per cent in 2023, while the average daily sugar intake of residents fell from 60g in 2018 to 56g in 2022. Nutri-Grade measures will be extended to key contributors of sodium and saturated fat intake sold in the retail setting from mid-2027. Minister of State for Health Rahayu Mahzam gave this update in reply to an MP’s questions in parliament on Thursday (Nov 6).
