Rahayu Mahzam on patients’ feedback in grading nurses
Feedback from patients and their families does not directly determine the performance grading for nurses. Their appraisals are holistic and cover areas such as provision of timely and quality patient care, leadership capabilities and professional and personal development. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Health Rahayu Mahzam said positive public feedback is communicated to nurses to motivate them, while negative feedback is looked into to address any gaps in quality of care. Meanwhile, nurses are encouraged to report any abuse or harassment by patients or their families. These will be looked into and referred to the police where necessary. Ms Rahayu was replying to an MP’s questions in Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 30).
