Rahayu Mahzam on subsidies for fertility screening
The Government provides means-tested subsidies of up to 70 per cent for fertility tests that are medically indicated. This helps to keep fertility testing affordable for all patients. It also makes more sense for such tests to be recommended when they are medically indicated rather than to roll them out for all, which would not be cost-effective. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Health Rahayu Mahzam said this in Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 22) in answer to an MP’s question. She said there are many requests for tests and treatments to be eligible for MediSave deduction but they need to be prioritised and carefully considered to strike a balance between improving healthcare affordability, ensuring MediSave adequacy and keeping CPF contribution rates reasonable for all.
