Rahayu Mahzam on support for children and young persons with adverse childhood experiences
The Institute of Mental Health (IMH) has programmes to identify and offer support to those who have been exposed to adverse childhood experiences. This includes the Forensic Rehabilitation, Intervention, Evaluation and Network Development Services programme that provides integrated multi-disciplinary assessment and intervention for youth victims of abuse. IMH also conducts a resilience programme which enhances the well-being and resilience of children whose parents have mental illnesses. Children with signs of exposure to adverse childhood experiences are supported by KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital through timely and comprehensive screening, as well as counselling. Minister of State for Health Rahayu Mahzam highlighted these efforts in reply to a Parliamentary question on Monday (Oct 14).
