Review panel to study root cause of unmasking of NRIC numbers on ACRA portal
A panel led by the Head of Civil Service will look into the disclosure of full National Registration Identity Card (NRIC) numbers on the business portal of Singapore's Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA). Second Minister for Finance Indranee Rajah and Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo have apologised in Parliament for the mistake that caused public anxiety. They also addressed over 50 questions filed by MPs. It was revealed that over 500,000 searches for NRIC numbers were made on the portal over a five-day period last month. Richa Mathew reports.
