Saktiandi Supaat on Securities and Futures (Amendment) Bill

08:48 Min

The recommendations in the Securities and Futures (Amendment) Bill are a timely intervention to revitalise Singapore’s equities market by capitalising on its strengths in connectivity and a high starting base of robust regulation, said MP Saktiandi Supaat. Speaking in parliament on Thursday (May 7), he pointed out that the move will allow Singapore to capture smaller and mid-sized enterprises which are not well served by US markets alone. He wanted to know if there have been engagements with specific companies to come on board the SGX–NASDAQ dual listing bridge. He also wanted to know how the Monetary Authority of Singapore will assess whether dual listings will translate into sustained liquidity in Singapore.
