Saktiandi Supaat on Skills and Workforce Development Agency Bill

09:02 Min

What new thrusts will the Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA) have, how will existing programmes be continued or enhanced, and what indicators will be used to assess if the agency has been a “force multiplier”? MP Saktiandi Supaat raised these questions in parliament on Tuesday (May 5). He asked if the government could assuage possible concerns that the merger - 10 years after a separation of agencies - is “unnecessary wastage”. Mr Saktiandi also asked about the composition of the SWDA board and whether there will be private-sector representation and advisory panels or sector-specific councils to capture and implement industry insights. He also wanted to know how the agency will work with the Institute of Technical Education, polytechnics and universities to ensure that curricula remain aligned with rapidly evolving industry needs.
