Seah Kian Peng on Foreign Interference (Countermeasures) Bill

The issue of countermeasures against foreign interference has long been on the radar of the Government and the people, said MP Seah Kian Peng. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Oct 4), he pointed out that there is no lack of consultation and feedback as the issue has been "in the works" for some time. He also said Singaporeans must have the space for open, transparent and accountable debates. It is their joint duty to ensure that the views reflected are those of Singaporeans instead of those of outside agents. He described the Bill as a "sword" to detect threats early and an "adaptor" for the law to operate in a more targeted and precise manner.
