Selected Nestle infant formula pulled off shelves after SFA stops sale over potential toxin risk
Supermarkets and online platforms have pulled affected Nestle NAN infant formula after a stop-sale order by the Singapore Food Agency, as it probes the presence of cereulide toxin. The toxin is made by Bacillus cereus, a bacterium commonly found in food. The bacteria's spores can survive in powdered formula. When mixed with warm water and left out, the bacteria — which can survive reheating — can grow. Nadirah Zaidi reports.
