Sharael Taha on Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill

Online shopping has become the norm in Singapore, especially since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and this has hit small merchants like neighbourhood shops especially hard. Making the point in Parliament on Tuesday (Nov 2), MP Sharael Taha welcomed the proposal to impose GST on low-value imported goods. He asked if the tax income could be used to support neighbourhood retailers in starting and sustaining their digital transformation, such as by hiring consultants or trainers.
